Parthiban is walking fast from Hostel to College. Yesterday he was warned for having attendance less that 75%. So he figured out that he needs to attend all classes in the last 10 days to maintain 75% at the Semester end. So he woke up early at 8:20 and now going to college to attend the 8:30 class. He crossed the road and entered into college, but he saw something familiar at the entrance which he crossed in a fraction of a second. No, its not something, its someone. He turned and looked back and there she is. Vennila is standing at the entrance with her parents. Vennila is the girl who studied with Parthu from LKG to 5th Std. In fact she is Parthu's (oneside) Childhood love. Love may not be a correct word to say. You may call it as Infatuation or Puppy love or to say more correctly Puppy Infatuation :D. He saw her lastime when he was studying 7th std. That almost 7-8 before from now. He never imagined that he will see her ever in his lifetime. But now she is standing at his college entrance. He don't know what to do. He stood there for few seconds staring at her. But she didn't see him. His friend pulled him saying "we'll sight girls later, its already late, walk fast".
Then he reached his class. Yet he is still thinking about Vennila. A lot of thougts went on his mind like 'How come she is in his college? whether she came to visit any of her friends or relatives? Or is she joining in his college? if she isn't joining, would he be able to see her again?'. Then the lecturer threw a chalk piece at him and said "What are you day dreaming boy? pay attention to class". He heard some girls giggling in the side after what lecturer said. He always hated his class girls.He turned to his right to see who are giggling. And there's more surprise again. Vennila was sitting there. He was totally puzzled. He didn't see her coming inside the class. She was standing out when he crossed her and came to class. She couldn't have came before him unless she is some superwoman. Then he thought she might have entered while he was daydreaming about her. Anyway he never paid attention to anything that happens inside classroom. Now he is totally shocked,surprised and stunned. He didn't know how to react. He almost felt like flying in the air. She was the first girl he liked. Whenever we see some romantic movies or read some romantic novels, we used to think ourselves as the hero and some pretty girl as the heroine. Well, she is his heroine. She would be the first person to cross his mind whenever he thinks about how his love life would be or about his future wife.
Then he thought whether she would still remember him? even if she remember who he is, would she talk to him as casually as she did in school days?. He was waiting for the class to end and dying to talk to her. Finally the class ended and most of the students started moving to canteen. His friend called him but he told he isn't hungry. After few minutes of hesitation he walked to her and said 'Hi Vennila'.
She excitingly said 'Hey Parthiban!! how are you? I'm glad you still remember my name'.
He said 'I'm fine, how are you? how come you're in my college, my class? and that too at this time of year?'.
'My parents moved here, so i discontinued my old college and joined here'.
'oh that's great and its good to see you after longtime'.
'yeah its good to meet you too, i saw you at the entrance but i didn't expect you're also in this class'
'You saw me at the entrance?!?!' he asked excitingly.
'Yeah i was going to call you, but your friend rushed you to walk fast, so i didn't ' she said.
'Ok. Next hour is going to begin soon, shall we meet in lunch?' he asked.
'Sure. I don't know anyone else here, even i thought of asking you to accompany me for lunch' she said.
He smiled and said 'Ok. see you at lunch and let me go back to last bench and sleep for 2 more hours'.
She giggled and said 'ok. continue'.
Normally he would sleep in all classes, but not today. How could he sleep when Vennila is sitting before him. For the 2 hours he was looking at her and her only. He thought she didn't change much since school days and became more prettier than before. And he is very excited about the lunch and he couldn't believe himself that he actually asked a girl out for lunch. Because he rarely talked to any girl in his college. And he used to tease and mock his friends heavily, whenever they talked to any girls. So even if he thought of talking to any girls, he would be afraid of his friends that they'll tease him back. But today he didn't worry about any of those. In fact he didn't even care to worry today. Of course she is his Vennila, why would he be worried?.
2 hours passed and Lunch came. He walked with her outside and she asked 'Where to? canteen?'
'No. canteen food won't be good. There's a restaurant nearer by, we'll go there' he said.
They walked into the restaurant which is nearer to college. They sat at the table opposite facing each other. First they talked about how each of their families are and some blah blah formalities. He couldn't talk normally while watching her face to face. So every now and then he looked at the table while speaking to make himself comfortable. Then there was an uncomfortable silence for few minutes. He broke the silence by saying 'Vennila, you know..during our childhood school days...' then paused. She asked 'During schooldays?...........'. He said 'Well, don't mistake me after listening to this. During our schooldays i had a major crush on you' and suddenly he looked at the table. He didn't have strength to look at her face now. After few seconds of silencce, he heard her saying 'I know'. He looked up immediately and asked 'what? you..know ? how? how?????'
Parthu's friend Raj kicked him heavily in his back and said 'You sleepy sleeperson, its late for class and you have very less attendance, so get up'. Parthu woke up looking puzzled and just sat frozen for a minute. Raj shaked his shoulders and said again 'Come on get up..get up'.
Parthu started scolding Raj 'You a**h***, f***er, b***ard,********************, go to hell'.
Raj said 'oh oh...Thankyou my dear friend, but an a**h*** asked me yesterday to wake him up while going to college'.
Parthu Sighed and said 'okkkkk okkk.. i only asked..but man you woke me up in the middle of a really sweet dream'.
Raj asked 'Dream?? ohhh..well..based on how you praised me a moment ago, some actress would have came in the dream right?? who was it? Asin, Aishwarya or some Hollywood hotties?'
Parthu said 'Nooo man..more than that...i'll tell later, lets get start to class now'.
The whole day he was thinking about Vennila, where she would be now? how she would be? etc etc..He felt very happy the whole day because of the dream. He never felt this much happier in the recent past. In the lunch time he told Raj that the one came in his dream was Vennila, his childhood crush. Once the college got over, Parthu and few of his friends Raj,Prabu and Vignesh were having a cup of tea in their Hostel mess. After sipping his tea, Vignesh said 'This tea tastes like bullshit, and you guys see the Mess bill this month, its much more than previous month, they added some more studpid reasons to increase the amount'. Prabu replied for that 'If they keep on doing like this, one day i'm definitely going to burn this Mess, guys'. Raj said 'Guys lets calm down, Parthu had some dream about a girl this morning, lets hear about that'. Prabu and vignesh got excited and said 'ohh a girl in the dream!!!!!!........' 'Who was it? anybody from our college?'.
Parthu said 'No guys..her name is Vennila, she is my childhood crush.'
Prabu said 'Oh...childhood crush!!!!!!!........at what age you had crush?'.
Raj interrupted and said 'they studied together from LKG to 5th std'.
Prabhu and Vignesh started laughing. 'Dude..5th std??? love??' asked Prabu.
Parthu replied 'I said it was a crush, and Raj had a crush with his Maths teacher in his 7th grade, what you got to say about that?'.
Raj said 'hey hey..why are you bringing my topic, guys don't interrupt and just listen to him'.
then Parthu explained his dream without missing any details. Prabu and Vignesh scolded Raj for waking him up during important scene.
And Raj said 'see.. weird things are happening in dreams, a girl is discontinuing and joining another college in Final year, Parthu was talking to girl, and he asked her out for lunch even though he has only 3 rupees in his purse right now'.
Others laughed and Prabu asked 'Hey how was she in your dream compared to when you saw her in 5th std.?'
Parthu said 'She looked mostly similar dude, her face looked very similar but with some maturity'.
Prabu said 'are you kidding?..Yo do know that i'm not talking about face right?'
Parthu stared at him angrily for a second.
Vignesh interrupted and changed the topic 'Hey Parthu..you never saw her after 7th std?? she is still in your village right?'
Parthu said 'No man, i never saw her after that. I go to my village once in 3 months for 2,3 days leave. i don't roam much in village and also don't have friends in my village. So its difficult to know about her'.
Then their chat went on to other topics but Parthu still couldn't stop thinking about her.
After few days Parthu went to his native village for few days leave.One sunday, he was sleeping in his home till 11 'o' clock. His Mom shouted 'Parthu..Parthu..'. Then he slowly got up and came outside his room. His Mom said 'Hey come to Hall, look who is here'. Parthu came to hall and saw a girl in saree. He looked at her face for a minute. He thought she looked somewhat like Vennila. Then only he realised and came to know that she IS Vennila. She looked little different compared to what he saw in dream.
He doubtedly asked 'Vennila??'.
She replied 'Hey Parthiban!! how are you? I'm glad you still remember my name'.
He stood there frozen for few seconds. He was thinking whether this is also some kind of a dream or not.
Then a small girl around 2 year old came crying and calling Vennila as 'Mummy...'.
Then Vennila lifted her and said 'Don't cry baby...don't cry..say 'Hi' to Uncle, say 'Hi'...'
Parthu mumbled inside his mouth 'GOD this should be a dream, this should be a dream.....'.
